The 18th tourism-and-gastronomy guide …E para comer, Lugo highlights the province of Lugo as a privileged place to enjoy next August’s solar eclipse
  •          The Provincial Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of Lugo presented today at Fitur the 18th edition of its guide, which jointly promotes tourism across the 67 municipalities of the province.

21.01.2026. The event took place at the Galicia stand at the International Tourism Trade Fair (Fitur), being held in Madrid. The president of the Provincial Association of Hospitality and Tourism Entrepreneurs of Lugo (Apehl), Cheché Real, was joined by Xosé Merelles, Director of Turismo de Galicia; Javier Arias, the Xunta’s delegate in Lugo; and María José Gómez, Regional Minister for Rural Affairs.

Under the title Lugo, under the magic of the eclipse, this new publication in the …E para comer, Lugo guide collection focuses on an extraordinary event: the total solar eclipse on 12 August, an astronomical appointment that will make the province one of the most attractive places to observe it.

During his speech, Real stressed that “Lugo will be a privileged place to enjoy the eclipse, both because of its location and the variety of landscapes and natural viewpoints, with open horizons and diverse settings, which make the province a particularly suitable destination for a unique experience.” The guide incorporates this phenomenon as its common thread and invites readers to plan a different kind of trip in which sky and earth meet: coming for the eclipse and staying for everything Lugo has to offer.

The book has 132 pages. In its first section, it offers a tour of the 67 municipalities of Lugo, arranged according to the 13 counties (comarcas) that group them. “As a playful nod, in this edition each county is linked to a zodiac sign, an invitation to choose a destination in a surprising way, understanding travel also as play and discovery,” Cheché Real explained.

The following chapters include regular sections such as a review of the different gastronomic activities carried out by the Association throughout 2025, participation for the thirteenth year in La Vuelta, and the complete directory of all hospitality establishments associated with Apehl. It also includes an index of key services, tourist information, transport, roads and the most relevant information websites.

With a print run of 15,000 copies, the publication is distributed through tourist offices, hostels, sector trade fairs, hotels and other hospitality establishments associated with Apehl, as well as at every stage of the Vuelta a España cycling race.

Its digital edition is now available on www.apehl.org and www.eparacomerlugo.es.

At the launch of this volume, the president of Apehl, Cheché Real, highlighted the possibilities offered by this guide “to choose a destination, because in Lugo there is much to see, much to experience and much to savour.”

In this regard, Real also took the opportunity to underscore the value of local products from Lugo and their transformation. “If anything makes Lugo a memorable destination, it is the pleasure of its gastronomy. A pillar in which many links take part: from producers who care for the land and keep rural life alive, to hospitality professionals who turn that quality into unforgettable experiences,” he said.

To close his remarks, the president of Apehl emphasised a simple idea: “Any of the 67 municipalities is a great destination to experience the astronomical phenomenon of the year. The eclipse will be the perfect excuse, but what will make people stay or want to return will be what has always been there: the beauty of our landscapes, our culture, our hospitality and all our flavour.

The presentation was also attended by local and regional authorities, as well as representatives of producer associations from across the province.
