23.03.2026.The 18th edition of Estase Cocendo came to an end this past weekend after fifteen days of celebrations. This Saturday, the 5th Aquelarre das Meigas took place, with a full programme of activities that drew a large turnout in Monforte.
The morning was devoted to a guided tour that visited the viewpoints of Santiorxo and Cadeiras, the church of Pinol and the O Cruceiro winery. Children’s workshops entertained the youngest visitors, and the afternoon and evening filled the centre of Monforte with the Meigas contest, the parade with batucada, and the Noite Meiga, featuring live music by Lorena do Val and her pianist Manuel Arroyo.
During this fortnight in March, when Estase Cocendo was held, the public was also able to take part in a guided tour of Monforte and a motorcycle meet-up; enjoy cocido and special gastronomic offers; and benefit from discounts in pubs, hotels, guesthouses and rural tourism accommodation at nearly thirty hospitality establishments in the localities of Bóveda, Chantada, Monforte de Lemos, A Pobra do Brollón, Quiroga, Ribas de Sil, O Saviñao and Sober.
This event is an initiative of Apehl, sponsored by the Provincial Council of Lugo, with the collaboration of the municipalities of Monforte de Lemos, Quiroga, Sober and A Pobra do Brollón; the Ribeira Sacra Designation of Origin Regulatory Council; the Ribeira Sacra Wine Centre; the Val do Frade winery; En Lá; Salón de Beleza María; Floraría Flor e Fauna; Manuela Fuentes; Solo; and the Monforte Urban Shopping Centre. The organisers thank both public institutions and private companies for their support.
